66 years of Loosli
Loosli’s early years
Wyssachen, 1956
In the spring of 1956, Paul Loosli and his father built a new building to replace the existing small joinery workshop, where the first pieces of furniture were crafted using the machinery already available. This laid the foundations for the company as we know it today.
Wyssachen, 1965
A decade later, the company had grown out of its infancy: in 1964, they expanded the business with a stylish tailoring workshop.
1977 Loosli ventures into uncharted territory: we become the first Swiss furniture manufacturer to adopt the post-forming process (thermally moulded synthetic resin coating) and set trends in the industry.
1979 The joinery grows and a new carpentry workshop is added. The team now comprises 35 skilled craftspeople.
1983 A devastating chimney fire destroys the old joinery building, but does not break our spirit. We look to the future.
1985 Manfred Loosli, the founder’s son, joins the company having recently qualified as a master joiner.
1988 The name Loosli becomes the stock ticker symbol, and Loosli + Co AG is founded.
1989 We continue to grow with an expanded joinery workshop specialising in bathroom furniture. The Loosli team now numbers 60 people.
An established craft business
In 2002, Santec AG became part of the Loosli Group. The number of employees increased to 118, and a state-of-the-art loading ramp was completed.
Also in 2002, the next generation, Manfred and Barbara Loosli, took over the reins from Paul and Rösy Loosli. A board of directors was established for Loosli B+B Holding AG.
In 2003, the construction business moved into the former sawmill and began producing prefabricated wall frames.
Also in 2003, a spacious employee parking lot was built on newly acquired land in Ryftal, bringing convenience to the workday.
Digitalization in the carpentry industry
2004
The modernization is gaining momentum: Two CNC machines and the double-end edge banding machine are being upgraded.
2005
We are expanding our production halls in the area of machine manufacturing and covering the panel delivery area.
2008
In July, a new cutting milling machine with a crane robot and an additional panel storage for 180 panels were installed within 14 days.
2010
A brand-new machining center, manufactured in Germany, is revolutionizing our production line. This compact system is unique in Switzerland. The versatility of this through-feed machining center drastically reduces setup costs compared to conventional CNC machines.
Loosli: the modern carpentry business
2011
A gigantic edgebanding center using laser technology is being built (24 x 10 m, 45 tons). Loosli is becoming the Swiss trendsetter for seamless bathroom furniture. This manufacturing method allows for a significant increase in quality.
2011
We are celebrating our 55th anniversary under the motto "With people at the center and the latest technology into the 55th business year."
2013
A fully automated distribution center for bathroom furniture is opening. Up to 300 packages can be prepared for shipment weekly in the 2300 m² facility. This is not only a logistical masterpiece, but also offers enough space to theoretically store a 2-kilometer-long line of furniture in a single row.
2015
The commissioning of the new prefabrication plant marks another quantum leap in production. It includes a panel storage system, a horizontal panel saw, and a laserTec edgebanding machine connected to material buffers. With a footprint of 32 x 30 m, Loosli is setting a new standard in the industry. The plant enables us to apply laserTec edges to even thin materials as thin as 8 mm.
2016
To celebrate the company's 60th anniversary, we are opening our doors to more than 1,000 visitors. Guests will gain insights into modern production methods and learn about our latest developments. Musical performances and food stalls will provide entertainment, and the festivities will be duly celebrated by Massimo Rocchi.
2017
Due to strong growth, Loosli needs more space. The facade in the entrance area is being renovated and repositioned, creating new areas behind it for reception, exhibition, offices, canteen and changing rooms.
2017
As a family business with over 60 years of experience and deep roots in the Emmental-Oberaargau region, the Loosli Group has remained grounded – yet still takes flight. In the coming years, it will support Ballonfreunde.ch with a Loosli balloon.
2019-2020
In collaboration with interior design firm Bösiger, we are laying the foundations for a brand-new center of excellence for kitchens and living spaces. Loosli is taking over the entire carpentry workshop, including its staff, as well as the property at Mittelstrasse 13. Bösiger, on the other hand, will continue to focus independently on furniture sales, interior design, and planning. The new showroom will open in Langenthal.
The third generation takes over
2022
Manfred Loosli hands over the management of the company to his son Matthias, who continues the family tradition.
2023
A 6,000 square meter solar roof now covers the company's entire annual electricity needs. A sign of sustainable business practices.
